making do with kindness

I document my body in selfies. On close inspection, these photos show traces: here my life and experience have inscribed themselves in the body. Here, this body recounts me. I project it onto wooden canvases, burn its forms into the wood and trace the evidence of my experience in it. With pens and fingers I explore faded scars and solid bulges, dance on a recurring rash, immerse myself in touch and the feeling of being lost in this skin. In this way, what I first have to search for in photographs becomes the focus of the drawing and shows: this is my embodiment.
